My Little Brooklyn Box

My little box is swiftly becoming one of my favourite subscription boxes so when it arrived this month I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. The theme this month was Brooklyn, very fitting as I will be staying in Brooklyn when I go to New York next year so this got me super excited! I have seen a lot of people moaning about this box but I really liked it. The box also came with a nice Brooklyn print which I will be adding to my gallery wall to remind me of my travels – it’s just a shame it has the MLB logo plastered in the middle but never mind.

The first thing I pulled out was a little pouch and one of the items inside were these adorable geometric rose gold and green shirt collar studs. I have a few blouses that these would look great on. I think added to a red blouse these will give your outfit a festive twist! These pins don’t have to be used on the collar if that’s not your thing, add them to a bag or the pocket of your jeans – there are no rules!

Also in the pouch was this cute donut pin badge. I guess donuts are a big thing in NY and I am totally down with that. I’ll be wearing this with pride when I pick up my donuts in Brooklyn.

The next item was this byTerry eyeliner in the shade Gold Ornament which retails at £24. I think I will definitely be using this over the upcoming holiday season and it feels really nice to apply. The quality is outstanding and this product really does not budge. Apparently MLB gave out one of these in March and older subscribers are a bit peeved off but for me I am really happy with the product.

The next item was the My Little Beauty Save My Nails Nail Treatment which retails at £7. This item is going to be perfect for the winter when my nails start to get weak and brittle. I have been applying this every few days for the past couple of weeks and I have definitely noticed an improvement. The treatment is said to strengthen nails, tackle yellow stains and even out ridges. I am not sure how this fits in with the theme however!

The Coffee Made Me Do It slogan mug and coffee stencil are such adorable lifestyle additions to this month’s box. The mug is smaller than a standard sized mug – perfect for a strong espresso and made of metal to keep your drink insulated nicely. I have not yet tried the stencil as I don’t tend to have frothy coffees but next time I make a cappuccino for a guest I’m going to impress them with my stencil skills. The little booklet also contained a mug cake recipe, however this is not to be made in this mug due to the material it is made from!

I then received this perfume however saw a lot of others receiving a hand cream. This is also a duplicate as advised by Kim from Romanovs Views but after seeing her smash her last one on the floor I am guessing she was pleased she got another! As soon as I got this out of the box I dropped mine too! Somehow by some stroke of luck I managed to catch this in between 2 toes and save it – miracle. I really like the scent of this, I wouldn’t use it on a special occasion but it’s a nice perfume just to pop in your bag and give yourself a little spritz before going out. It’s the ideal size!

Overall – a really great box. This is something I look forward to every month and I can’t wait to see what is next!

My Little Box Mademoiselle - September

This month’s My Little Box was the first one I paid for myself and I am so pleased I decided to stick with this box. I love the variety in each box and this month was no exception. One of the things I love most about this box is the magazine it comes with, it is full of helpful tips and tricks and no other box I have been subscribed to has had this feature. There is such a mixture of items in each box it really is exciting and I have found that I have used all of them! The box this month had a centre flap opening to the lid tied with a ribbon. So unique!

The first item I received was this gorgeous navy Mademoiselle Pierlot’s Purse RRP £30. It feels sturdy and of really great quality and has lovely red edge detailing. This is going to be perfect for travelling, it’s just big enough for your passport and some money and a few cards. It feels too luxurious to use for day to day, it would be a shame to ruin it by stuffing it with receipts!  When you use the code MYLITTLEBOX you can get yourself 30% off the Claudie Pierlot range online. from 01/10/16 – 15/10/16

Another thing I like about this box is that you always receive a little pouch, these come in handy for so many things at home. I use mine for make-up, hair accessories and even use one to store my tablets and remedies in so they can be nicely tucked away in my bedside drawers. I love this month’s pouch, it’s so cute!

I was so pleased to see this Ren 3-in-1 cleansing water in my box this month. Me and Ren go way back, when I first started my blog ‘Christie Critique’ in 2012, I featured a post all about Ren and it became my most viewed post. Back in 2012 I would get about 2-3 views a day but my post on Ren had well over 1000 views! I haven’t used Ren products since 2012 so I was glad to see this in my box, it brought back good memories. I have wanted to try a cleansing/micellar water for a while and have been really enjoying this Ren one. This is something I would definitely repurchase and my skin is left feeling so clean and fresh after using this.

I was in need of a new mascara so the Mascara Mademoiselle Audacious Volume RRP £14 was a welcomed addition to this month’s box. The magazine also had a makeup tutorial using this mascara and some tips to tell if your mascara is past its  best!

The brush is a standard spoolie but the results are great. I haven’t had any problems with mascara fallout since using this product and have really been enjoying it.

The final item in this month’s box was the Ginseng shot mask by Erborian Korean Skin Therapy RRP £6. This single shot sheet mask brings a bouncy freshness to your face. It’s so simple to use, simply unfold, leave on the skin for 10-15 minutes and you are good to go. My skin felt so refreshed after using this and I could definitely see that the radiance had improved in my complexion.

What do you think of this month’s box?

My Little Box - Friends Edition August 2016

This box marks the last ‘My Little Box’ from Kim at Romanovs Views for my birthday gift and the theme couldn’t have been more perfect or ideal. This month’s theme was ‘friendship’ – how apt! Once again this was a fantastic box with lots of goodies – onto the review!

Firstly I received this nail kit which retails at £7.50. I love the summery fun design of the case which also fits in with other items in the box. This handy handbag sized kit is ideal for short trips away and contains clippers, cuticle tools and nail files. I think it’s a very practical item to have in this month’s box and the magazine even shares top tips on how to do your friends nails if you want to make use of the kit with your besties.

Wow your photos with this clip on fish eye lens for smartphones by Printic. It comes handy with an adorable mini drawstring bag to keep it protected wherever you go. Retailing at just £12, this is a must have accessory for any keen photographers. I have previously bought James one of these so I knew how it worked and had some fun playing with this. I am looking forward to trying out a few selfies but in the meantime it’s great for taking ‘before’ photos of my house as I can fit the whole room in one shot.

I love this Batiste Stylish Hold Me Hairspray which costs just £4.49 for the full sized version. It actually smells really pleasant for a hair spray and is the perfect size for my handbag. This leaves your hair soft to the touch and not crispy. It also brushes out so if you want to change your hairstyle from day to night.

This Kadalys Hydramuse comforting cream is super moisturising and hydrates all day and night long. Apply before bed and in the morning. The cream has 100% natural fragrance composed of ylang ylang, jasmine and Tahitian gardenia. This retails at £33.50 and I really enjoy using this under my makeup in the morning. It sinks into the skin well and I love that we received a full sized version of the cream to really trial it out.

The My Little Beauty item this month was this lovely Summer Lips Lipstick RRP £12. This lipstick contains an SPF 15 so is great for the summer and adding a subtle colour change to your lips. The colour is not long lasting but it is hydrating and still protects your lips from harmful rays. The lipstick doesn't really have a taste but is pleasant and I love sweeping this over my lips in the morning just to give them a bit of colour and hydration.

We also received a little bonus item of the Propercorn Sweet and Salty which costs £1 for 30g. The sweet and salty combination come together nicely and is the perfect guilt free snack to share with your bestie. Especially as Kim likes salty and I prefer sweet, although I’m not sure I’d want to share as they are too yummy!

I love this box so much that I have decided to keep up with the subscription. I love that each month has a different theme and that the products in the box go so well with it. I also love that every box I have received has contained products that I will actually make use of. There hasn’t been a single item where I have used it then discarded it and I have already gone on to repurchase some of the items too. I look forward to receiving future boxes and reviewing them for you over on my blog here!

My Little Box - July

This is my second box of the three that Kim very kindly bought me for my birthday and it just seems to get better and better. I am even considering keeping this box on myself for month 4 instead of Glossybox, shock horror!! I am really impressed with the contents of this box and love everything in it, it’s just so on trend and in season. I also really liked the magazine this month and it also included top tips for ways to use coconut oil! Keep reading to see what I received.

Firstly I received a Stella & Dot bracelet. Mine is a gold colour with a coral tassel but I have seen other colours available. I love this colour as it goes with some of my summer outfits already and I look forward to wearing this. It’s going to look great with a tan. This retails at £18. I’ve been loving this style of bracelet recently and have seen it popping up in various stores so I am pleased to get my hands on something similar.

I absolutely love this My Little Beauty Brume De Coco Apres Soleil (RRP £10). It smells absolutely delicious and I love applying this after a day in the sun. As you probably guessed, this after sun has a lovely coconut scent. The product sinks into the skin and after applying this I felt soft and the sweet scent lingered on the skin. I have even tried popping this in the fridge and using it after a day in the sun and it is AMAZING. The items came in this adorable cotton bag illustrated. I love how handy this is and I have been topping it up with essentials and popping it in the bottom of my tote bag to keep everything together.

My FAVOURITE item in this box is the Yves Rocher Noix De Coco EDT. This is the ultimate summer scent and I have been using it religiously to the point where I am worried I am nearly out! It smells like pure coconut, not artificial in the slightest. This retails at £7 but you can get it cheaper via the Yves Rocher website.. if it wasn’t sold out! I really wanted to buy the whole coconut set but unfortunately it was also sold out on the website. I will be checking back regularly to see if I can get my hands on some more.

We then received the Merci Handy Coco Rico Hand Sanitizer which retails at €3. I often use cleansing gel in my job and love having it handy so this is the perfect size to pop in my pocket when I am at work. The one I currently use is a little bit cheap and sticky so I was so pleased to see a nice new one with a scrumptious tropical scent.

Kim really loved this Ojon - Rare Blend Oil which costs £30 for 45ml. This oil is the ultimate moisture therapy for the ends of your hair. My hair has been bleached at the ends and the summer sun appears to have made this very dry. The Ojon oil is infused with natural oils from around the world and helps to hydrate, smooth, soften, boost shine, reduce frizz. What I love about this oil is that you only need a single drop. I have nearly used my oil up now and I have really enjoyed using it. I am even considering buying the full sized product because I really love how nice it has made my hair feel.

This passport cover (RRP £11) is the perfect summer accessory and I love the summer print and tropical design. I just wish I was going on holiday so I could use it! I recently received another passport cover so when I next go away I am going to put this on James passport – I’ll be the one carrying them both anyway so why not carry them in style?

Overall I really liked this box and even preferred it over my Glossybox this month believe it or not! I really feel like the theme tied itself together really well and each product has been suitably chosen and really works well in the box. Thanks again Kim for part 2 of my birthday present! Bring on next month’s box!

My Little Box - June

My best friend Kim got me an amazing birthday present this year of the My Little Box subscription for 3 months. Such a thoughtful gift as I do love my subscription boxes and it’s a surprise for both of us when it arrives. This month’s theme was a summer vibes edition and the box contained lots of items ideal for summer which I will go into further detail with below. I am really happy with this box, it comes with a monthly magazine too which isn’t something that comes with any other boxes I have had in the past and I found it really helpful. Anyway – onto what I received.

The first item was this bikini pouch which was filled with some of the other goodies I received. It took me a second or two to realise what this pouch was for and it’s not a product I’ve ever considered before but I think this pouch is genius. You can use this pouch to store your bikini in, so if you’re jetting off on holiday then this is great. I did think it was a bit small at first, especially for my swimwear as it’s probably larger than average but I needn’t have worried as it fits in there fine. Wet or dry, keep your bikini separated from your other belongings. I just wish I had a holiday planned as an excuse to use this!

The next item was this salt spray for your hair which is  perfect for creating beach waves and smells gorgeous. The scent reminds me of vanilla and is perfect for the summer. My hair is naturally wavy and using this spray gave it a more structured look and kept my hair tame but at the same time gave me beautiful beach waves. I think I will be using this a lot this summer.

I said a moment ago how pleased I was to see a little magazine in the box as other boxes I get don’t come with one and it’s nice to have a bit of a read. The magazine theme is also summer vibes and is filled with tips and tricks. There are even pages on how to use some of the products in the box and pages on this year’s hottest festivals. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this little magazine and every page had something informative on it.

We then received this little ciate mini nail varnish in the shade chinchilla which is a pale blue colour. This shade reminds me of the ocean and is the perfect pastel shade for the summer. I have had ciate nail varnishes in the past so I know they are reliable and I will be painting my nails with this for the weekend!

This little Kusmi Iced Tea package was a nice surprise as I am a great lover of teas. The monthly my little world magazine even had a little recipe inside on how to create the perfect iced tea! At £11 for 10 sachets, this is quite expensive but nice for a treat now and again.

When I saw there was an item of clothing in the box I thought “oh no, this is never going to fit me” but I was pleasantly surprised. Kim wore hers to a blogger event we attended recently and it looked great, loosely fitting and just the right length. On me, it is a bit more fitted but still nice all the same. I have enjoyed wearing this on sunnier days when sitting in the garden and I love the fun summer slogan on the front.

The final item I received was this too faced glitter glue which is something I have needed so many times! I love wearing glitter at Christmas but by the end of the night it ends up halfway down my face. I can’t wait to try this out for festive looks but seems a shame I have to wait months to use it! I read over on Kim’s review that she has been using this as a primer so I might have to give that a go in the meantime!

Thank you again Kim for this lovely gift! Have you ever received My Little Box? What do you think? I can't wait for the next one!
