Martha Jackson Locket Review*

I don’t own a lot of jewellery that I wear every day and I always wished that I had something I could put on that would go with most outfits as well as having meaning to me. When I was offered the chance to review an item from Martha Jackson, I had a look through their website and saw that there were plenty of beautiful pieces available. I knew I would be able to find something special here.

I received the Silver Vintage Heart Locket which retails at £37.00 on their website with free UK shipping. This sterling silver locket is a fantastic keepsake and is of beautiful quality. The detailing is fantastic. It came packaged in a little cardboard box with the Martha Jackson logo on the front and inside the locket was wrapped in delicate tissue paper.

The locket has wonderful cut out detailing, it really is a stylish item and something that I was looking for. Martha Jackson give you plenty of options to really make this piece of jewellery unique to you or your recipient. Firstly, there is the option to have the locket engraved. I had ‘Forever Begins 01/12/2018’ put onto the back of mine which signifies my wedding date, the most special date still to come in my life.

You can also add charms such as a key, a gold or silver letter to really make this unique and you can also customise the length of your chain for an additional charge. If you are buying this as a gift for a friend or loved one you have the option to add a personalised message in the box free of charge.

In the centre of the locket is some space to add a photo, or something of meaning. I have added a photo of my fiancé (and my cat!), and a small piece of material from my wedding dress. Things that have a lot of meaning to me, and something I can now keep close to my heart leading up to our wedding, and forever after. There are plenty of beautiful pieces on the Martha Jackson website, so if you are looking for that perfect keepsake or gift idea, please check them out.

What do you think of this gorgeous locket?

My Little Box August - Wild Summer Edition

Another month has arrived and another My Little Box has hit my doorstep! It seems to come around so quickly. This month's box has a 1970's vibe to it and I'll be honest, it hasn’t been my favourite box of them all! The box came with a Beach Boys print saying "good vibrations". I'm not really sure where I will put this as it doesn't really match my décor but a nice print in any case.

The first item I received was this Nana Benz Necklace. In the 1970s the nana Benz girls made their fortunes selling wax print designs. Nicknamed for the Mercedes they used to drive around town they were the ultimate vintage girl gang. This months necklace design is paying homage to the badass business women and their blinged out rides. Wear it loud and wear it proud. This necklace has gold hardwear and rope detailing along the front. It easily clips on and off so you don’t have to fiddle around trying to get it on. It is quite a statement piece so I will need to find some appropriate clothing to wear this with. It's not my usual style but will be interesting to try and style this up.

This gold Gem Catcher is very interesting and when I first saw it I wasn't 100% sure what it was! This can be hung on the wall and then you can hang your jewellery from it. It is hung by a piece of string but I can’t see why you couldn't replace the string for a piece of ribbon or something else that matches your décor. I hung a few necklaces on here just to test it and they appear to be safe and secure, I don't think they would fall off but if you have bigger pieces of jewellery then they may not stay on as well so be careful what you choose to put on here.

This isn’t the first time I have received the Ren 3-in-1 cleansing water in my box. I am pleased to see it again as I had used my other bottle. This smells fresh and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. What I love about it is that it is a cleanser, make up remover and toner in one and doesn’t require rinsing so I can settle down in bed and use this without having to then get up again.

The My Little Beauty item this month was this Blush Me Tender cream blush. The shade is said to be universally flattering and it a peachy pink colour. The Formula is very creamy and this applies very easily and blends like a treat leaving a gorgeous colour on the cheeks. This doesn’t have a cheap scent like many of the blushers I have tried in the past and has good staying power when applied with a primer and setting powder.

Finally we received this Bareminerals skinlongevity vital power infusion. This product is halfway between a serum and an essence and has a lovely light texture to it. It retails at £34 for 30ml and we received a 7.5ml sample. It claims to dismiss signs of aging, brightens the skin and promotes skin vitality. I have been applying this morning and night after cleansing with the Ren Cleanser and it applies really well. It has a lovely scent to it.

Overall, not a bad box but not really themed as such, I am not sure how these items contribute to a Wild Summer but there we go, I look forward to seeing what we get next month!

My Little Goodnight Box

My favourite time of the month is when My Little Box arrives on my doorstep. This month’s theme had been heavily hinted at on Instagram so I had a rough idea of what to expect on the outside but the inside was a lovely surprise. The box design this month is beautiful and I will be using this on my bedside table to store my sleep remedies such as my essential oils and pillow mist. The packaging of the items inside the box also fit well with the theme and the ‘My Little Word’ booklet is informative and well suited to the box.

I absolutely love this Ornamental Jewellery Dish in the shape of a moon. It matches with my bedroom decor and I’ve got this sat next to the bed with my rings on. The shape of the dish means the rings can sit nicely and won’t fall out if you accidentally knock it in the night. I love that in this box you get a lifestyle piece like this. Even if you didn’t want or need this product, you could easily pass it on as a gift and it came with lovely box.

We then received this Garnier Pure Active, 3in1 Wash, Scrub & Mask. This aims to exfoliate and fight blemishes. You can apply this in three ways depending on if you want a wash, a scrub or a mask. The colour of this product is white with a creamy consistency and blue exfoliating beads. The smell is pleasant, it says on the packaging that it is eucalyptus but it reminds me of fresh cucumber. I have only been using this for a week or so but already my skin feels softer. My favourite use for this is as a scrub to get rid of all that winter dry skin.

The next beauty item we received is the My Little Beauty Moonrise Makeup Remover Jelly. This is 99.5% natural, vegan and suited to all skin types. This cleanser transforms into milk upon contact with water and helps to get rid of stubborn dirt. The smell is fresh and clean. This removes makeup in seconds and does a good job at removing waterproof makeup too. I do love trying new products and so far all of the My Little Beauty ones have been great.

I then opened this gorgeous perfume, Secrets D'Essences Accord Chic - Fragrance by Yves Rocher - £53 for 50ml. This Iris scented perfume has top notes of spicy pink peppercorn and enchanting elemi. I think this scent is really lovely.

This was actually the first item I opened as I was intrigued as to what it was. The Pattered Sleeping Mask in navy with white moon detail and text that says ‘To the Moon and Back’. I have never used a sleep mask but I know that Kim from Romanovs Views swears by hers. I have been giving this a go and it does work wonders for keeping the light out when I want to have a lay in. I think this will be even better in the summer when it gets brighter earlier.

Finally, we received this French print which translates to I don't want to sleep, I just want to dream. I don’t normally write about the prints but I thought this one was really nice and I will probably put this up in my bedroom.

Again, a great box. Loved this month’s theme and everything inside was spot on. I cannot wait for my final box of the year – hopefully it’s a good one!

DIWAH - Customised Jewellery*

I love jewellery and I love finding unique pieces that I haven’t seen any of my friends wearing but in this day and age it’s quite difficult. With the huge presence of social media these days, if a necklace becomes popular everyone will be wearing it. When I heard about the brand DIWAH. I was intrigued. DIWAH provide a design your own jewellery service with hundreds of options available to customise your own exclusive piece of jewellery. Prices start from £40 and there are plenty of different themes and designs available.

Upon going onto the website you can view some of the pre-made design templates and from there you can alter them to suit you or completely start from scratch and create your own piece. I clicked on the start designing button because I wanted something 100% unique to me. There are plenty of options to choose from whether it be a crescent necklace, a necklace with a pendant or the one I chose which was a collar design.

Once you have chosen the template you can then choose your components. There are some preset themes available such as ‘Candy’ which has beautiful pastel coloured beads. I loved the ‘Sea Breeze’ theme which had beautiful ocean colours and I very nearly went for this style but then I saw the ‘Rebel’ theme and I instantly knew that I would be able to fit this to my tastes. You can click on all of the themes and see what beads are in each one and choose your favourite. Once you’ve chosen your components you are ready to start designing your piece.

There are so many parts you can customise from the clasp to the beads and you can even add chain links on certain bits. I’m not one for over the top flashy jewellery so I chose 4 different beads and used the same sequence all away around the necklace which was really easy to do using one of the autofill options in the ‘row’ section of the design page. I absolutely adored the little skull beads and had to have them. I also really liked the silver coloured roses and thought they paired nicely with black beads and pearly beads in-between. When I had finished my necklace I then saved the design and paid for it. I then went to look at it again and realised you could move the beads around to face the right way and some of my skulls were upside down! By then I thought it was too late but DIWAH emailed me and asked if I wanted to make my necklace symmetrical but it was fine if I wanted to leave it. I was over the moon I could change it and I thought that customer service was absolutely excellent and shows that care and attention goes into making each piece.

When my necklace was finished, I was sent some photos of my necklace being made which was great to see. DIWAH kindly sent me the below photos and told me they would be shipping it out soon. It was so nice to see the finished piece but I couldn’t wait to get it in real life.

My necklace came to £74 in total and for that you get a great unique piece and excellent customer care. It arrived in really good time and was packaged beautifully in a bright pink box with tissue paper and bubble wrap. There was also a personalised card inside the box with a lovely message about how much they loved my design. I am so pleased with the final product – it feels like a really good quality piece and the beads are sturdy.

DIWAH have very kindly given me a discount code to share with you all if you want to make your own piece. Use code CHRISTIESLIFE30 for 30% off your order. I also think it would be a lovely gift idea. You could even make you and your best friend matching necklaces and you’d be the only people to own that design which would make it even more special.

*I was provided with a voucher in order to purchase this necklace in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not influenced in any way.

Valentine's Day Gifts feat. Hazel and Kent*

I love jewellery but it is not something I often buy for myself. I love receiving jewellery as a gift knowing the item has come from that special someone and whenever you wear it, it reminds you of the person who gave it to you.

This Valentines day if you are looking for that perfect gift for a loved one then look no further than Hazel and Kent. They have a lovely range of necklaces, earrings, rings, watches and even bags. You'll easily be able to find the perfect gift, or something for yourself.

I received this gorgeous Topaz Necklace from Hazel and Kent which would make the perfect gift whether it be this Valentines Day, for a birthday or anniversary. The Topaz silver and pink CZ necklace costs just £35, but looks and feels a lot more expensive.

I love the way the light glistens on the necklace and it is such an elegant piece of jewellery to wear. It came packaged in a lovely crisp white box which kept the necklace protected and is a great way to present it to a loved on.

Visit Hazel and Kent on Facebook, Twitter or go direct to their website to see the other beautiful jewellery pieces they have for sale.

Thomas Sabo at Silver Tree Jewellery*

I'm always looking for unique jewellery pieces so when I came across the Thomas Sabo Jewellery range at Silver Tree Jewellery I couldn't help but eye up all of the beautiful unique pieces they have available in their new Spring/Summer collection.

I absolutely love the pendant charms available and I thought I would show you some of my favourite pieces. Both charms are silver and come complete with enamel stone detailing.  You can even choose to add Silver Tree gift wrapping at no extra cost.

If you like the look of these charms as much as I do, then you'll need a charm bracelet to go with it. I love this silver Thomas Sabo Charm Club Charm Bracelet priced at £45.

If bracelets aren't really your favourite jewellery piece, then why not look at the Thomas Sabo watch range. I love this Rose Gold Chronograph Glam and Soul Watch priced at £275.

So if you're looking for fun unique jewellery, then please head over to Silver Tree Jewellery. Not only do they stock Thomas Sabo, they also stock many other designer brands such as Pandora, DKNY and Vivienne Westwood to name a few.

If you need even more of an incentive to treat yourself to some new jewellery from Silver Tree Jewellery then use my discount code - BLG_XAWTK2HI4899 for 20% off your order. Earring Storage Ideas

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd share with you my earring storage idea.
As you can see, I have used a canvas (These are £4.75 for 4 from Wilkinsons)

I have literally just pushed my earrings into the canvas, and placed the backs on the other side. Great way to keep all of your earrings together, and looks super cute hanging on the wall or propped up on your bedside table.

Also an excuse to buy more earrings to fill the space inbetween! Haha!
