July 2016 Glossybox

When this month’s Glossybox arrived I also received My Little Box so it was like Christmas. All these goodies arriving on the same day! Glossybox day seems to come around so quickly. The first thing I saw when I opened the box was a courgette and brown rice spaghetti recipe card. This is a recipe from Eat Beautiful: Nourish Your Skin From the Inside out by Wendy Rowe. The recipe looks nice and it was a nice surprise to get this little added extra card in the box. If you’re intrigued to see what else I received, then carry on reading to see what I got..

Blank Canvas – F20 Flat Brush – Full Size £11.95
I do love trying new makeup brushes out and this comes from a brand I haven’t heard of before. This brush is colourful and is made using dense synthetic fibres. I have been using this to buff in my foundation and it works really well, just as well as my real techniques brushes! The brush feels nice to hold too and of good quality. I can see this sticking around in my makeup bag.

Hairon De-Tangle Brush – Full Size £6.99
This hairbrush is something I have wanted for a long time. Reminiscent of a mini tangle-teezer, this brush fits perfectly in my handbag. The brush fits in the palm of your hand and is really easy to use. It’s perfect for wet hair and hair extensions as it doesn’t tug or rip out the hair. I am really enjoying using this product, I just wish it was in a different colour as I can see it getting dirty in the bottom of my bag.

Hawaiian Tropic – Island Berry Lip Gloss – Full Size £6.99
A lip gloss with an SPF 25?! All my dreams have come true! There is nothing worse than sunburnt lips and now I can protect them whilst also looking glam. The tropical scent is absolutely gorgeous and this is a pleasure to apply to the lips. The formula is smooth and not sticky  and provides you with 12-hours of moisturising.  It also comes with the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Recommendation so stick this in your bag if you’re going on holiday and stay protected in style.

Utan and Tone – Nourishing Night Cream – Full Size £12.50
I was a little nervous to use this night cream with gradual tan in case I woke up completely orange so I did a small skintest on my neck before I committed to putting this on all night. I needn’t have worried, this cream gives you a subtle glow which is natural and not over the top. The formula is odourless which means you won’t end up smelling like a biscuit and also does not stain your pillow. I applied this to my face, neck and down to my chest before going to bed and woke up with a healthy glow. The cream contains anti-oxidants to help repair your skin whilst you sleep. I really like this product, just make sure you wash your hands after applying!

Icona Milano – Emotion Allowed Mascara – Full Size £13.04
This is the first waterproof mascara that I have owned so I didn’t really know what to expect from it! This mascara is water, sweat and humidity resistant so is perfect if you’re going away this summer and want to wear something that won’t end up down your face! The mascara separated my lashes nicely and didn’t cause any fallout throughout the day. I built this up layer by layer and my lashes looked plump and defined. I haven’t heard of this brand before but I will be looking into other products that they may do.

We have also had an August Sneak Peek in celebration of Glossybox 5th Birthday  where we get to choose an MUA palette. Thankfully Kim sent me the email so I could choose mine, for some reason I never get sent them! I even checked my junk mail. Very bizarre. I am looking forward to next month’s box, as it will be free due to my Glossydots!

March 2016 Glossybox

This month’s Glossybox was a bit if a disappointment if I’m honest. I felt a bit cheated as if the items could have been picked up for free on beauty counters. I’ve been a member of Glossybox for over 4 years and have loved it but I haven’t had a box like this for a while. As usual I will persevere and await next month’s box with great anticipation!

Hey Honey – Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum – Full Size £28.81
This travel sized serum from Hey Honey is a brand I have never come across before. It is worth noting that you need to cut the end off of the nib on the tube before you can use it. I saw many people on Instagram and Twitter complaining that theirs was broken but that’s not the case – you just need to open it! This serum was nice to use and I love wearing it underneath makeup. It makes the application of my makeup go on really well and has a nice fresh scent to it.

Olay Regenerist – Luminous Skin Tone Perfecting Cream – Full Size £29.99
This tiny sample of the Olay perfecting cream is a good trial size and is suggested by Glossybox that it is a mini travel item. This cream aims to fade the look of discolouration and dark spots and evens out your skin tone. There isn’t enough cream to really see the effects so I don’t really know if it works or not. It made my skin feel soft as any other moisturiser would but the tube ran out before I noticed real results. For £29.99 I don’t think this is an item I will be repurchasing without really having the chance to trial it properly.

Luxie - Rose Gold Large Angled Face Brush – Full Size £10.42
This Luxie Brush was probably my favourite item from the whole box and I know I will get good use out of this. This angled brush is the perfect shape for getting right into the contours of your face and great for bronzer and highlighter. This brush is very similar to my real techniques brushes which I swear by. I would love to see if there are other sized brushes available, this one is the 504 so I assume there is a whole range. At just over £10 I think this is quite reasonable too and I love the rose gold and baby pink design.

Collection – Speedy Highlighter – Full Size £3.99
I have highlighters coming out of my ears but I have never tried one from Collection despite being a brand I regularly use. The application of this is so simple as essentially it is a giant crayon so you can draw on the areas you want to highlight. The colour I received has a subtle glow, not too much that it’s overpowering. I’ve been wearing it on the tops of my cheekbones and blending it into my blusher with the Luxie Brush.

-417 – Catharsis Vitamin Mineral Shampoo and Conditioner – Full Size £16.89
These -417 Shampoo and Conditioner samples are a good size for travelling and weekend breaks. It does feel like these aren’t really worth too much but I do like this sized item for my gym bag. The dead sea minerals in these shampoos allow for a really hydrating wash and left my hair feeling soft and shiny. This is something I would consider buying if there was an offer on, however generally I tend to spend no more than £5 on my shampoo and conditioners.

Overall, I wasn’t overly impressed by the box but I think I will get use out of it. I just didn’t get that excited buzz I usually get when I open a good box, it felt a bit empty. Next month’s box contains an item from The Body Shop so I am actually looking forward to that, I think it will be a good one!

January 2016 Glossybox

I was looking forward to this month’s Glossybox as I love a fresh start with cosmetics and products for the new year and could do with a bit of a spring clean with my old products. My box arrived over a week ago now so I have had a good chance to use all of the products I received.

Unani Dermo Defense Face Mask - Full Size £11.36
When I first tried this mask out I expected the consistency to be thick but it's clear and light. This mask is ideal for sensitive skin which is a bonus as my skin doesn't always take to new products. The packaging is simple yet effective and it was clear to see what I had to do with this. I have been using this once a week after cleansing and my skin does feel softer and more hydrated.

Glossybox Eyeshadow - Glossy Mauve - Full Size £7.10
The second item I picked up was the Glossybox Eyeshadow.  I am really starting to build up a collection of Glossybox make up now. This satin eyeshadow appears dark in its pressed form but once swept across the eye this is sheer and blendable. This is definitely a colour I can see myself wearing and it is suggested if you use a wet brush you can get a more dramatic colour which I can't wait to try on my next night out.

Madara Cellular Repair Serum - Full Size £38.00
When I first opened this item I wasn't 100% sure on what I actually had to do with it. A quick google search prompted the answer, apply this serum morning and night before moisturising. The serum is a liquid consistency and aims to plump skin whilst boosting hydration. I am colourblind so I can't be 100% sure on this but I think this is green, although applies clear on the skin. Results have been known to arise after 4 weeks so I look forward to continuing to use this.

Teeez Cosmetics - Oasis Gem Lipstick - Full Size £11.93
This lipstick packaging is brilliant, I love the vibrant colours. I definitely won't be losing this in the bottom of my cosmetic bag! I love the coral/pink shade of this aptly named (coral onyx) lipstick and it does look really nice on. I suggest using a lip balm first as if this is applied to dry lips it does seem to emphasise that so I add a bit of vaseline first. This isn't as long lasting as other lipsticks I have tried but with funky packaging like this I don't mind having to get it out and reapplying it.

Angele Paris Red Nail Lacquer - Full Size £6.32
The last item I tried out was this gorgeous classic red nail varnish. I own a few different reds and always welcome trying new brands. I applied tow coats of this onto a base and then finished with a clear top coat. This nail varnish was long lasting and I even gave myself a matching red pedicure. The colour is perfect for this time of year when I just want to use something with a deeper colour.

July 2015 Glossybox

Another month has passed and it's Glossybox time again! This month's box has a French theme to it and I absolutely love the box designed by Jamie Lee Reardin. The box contains 4 French skin care items which you may be familiar with and a cute little bag to pop them all in.

Glossybox

July 2015 Glossybox

Noxidoxi Enhancing Serum Base - Full Size £33.46
This was the first item that I tried underneath my moisturiser as suggested. I love that this doesn't really have a scent as I'm not a fan of using scented products on my face. It's supposed to moisturise the deeper layers of your skin but if I'm honest I am yet to see any drastic improvements.

Noxidoxi Enhancing Serum Base

Lollipops Lip Balm - Full Size £4.15
This tastes delicious, like candy floss and sweets all rolled into this little tube. I don't tend to use lip balms very often but this is a great handbag essential. I own an eyeliner from this range, also from Glossybox. I love that this protects lips from U.V damage, perfect for the weather we have been having lately.

Lollipops Lip Balm

Teoxane Cosmeceuticals Perfect Skin Refiner - Full Size £70
I've never heard of this brand before, and the full sized version of this item is way out of my price range. I was a bit weary of trying this as I have had bad experiences in the past with acid peels. This states that you may experience some tingling but I didn't notice this. This feels really warm when rubbed into the skin and I love how soft my skin felt after using this.

Teoxane Cosmeceuticals

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Cream - Full Size £31
I have received a few Vichy products in the past from previous Glossyboxes so I was excited to try this out. This cream is lightweight and lightly scented. It is very cooling on the skin and left me feeling refreshed and hydrated. I popped this on under my foundation and it left my soft and kept my make up in place.

Vichy

Glossybox Exclusive Travel Pouch - £3.99
The products all came in this little clear make-up bag with super cute design by fashion illustrator Jamie Lee Reardin. It's a bit small for every day use, but can see this being a great little pouch to take on holiday or pop in your handbag.

June 2015 Glossybox

It doesn't seem that long since I reviews the May Glossybox but the June one seemed to come so fast this month. This month's box was the Festival Edit and was full of products you could take to a festival. I'm not heading to any festivals this year but loved trying out these products regardless.

MONU Spa - Rosewood Reviving Mist - Full Size £11.95
I own a few MONU products, all from Glossybox so I like trying out different things from the brand. I'll be honest I'm not a fan of this MONU spa Rosewood Reviving Mist scent, anything rose scented isn't really for me. I did however spritz this on my face one afternoon when I was sitting in the garden and it definitely left me feeling refreshed. I haven't yet tried it to set make up, but that's also something you can use this product for.

Glossybox Flash Tattoos - Full Size £6.50
I've seen these Flash Tattoos everywhere recently and they're totally on trend and would be great for festival fashion. I'll be honest, I can't see myself wearing the Glossybox logo tattoos, but I tried one out for the purpose of this blog post. These were super easy to apply. The other ones would look great around your wrist paired with a few bracelets.

Halo - Fragrance Free Wipes - Full Size £1.20
This is another great festival essential. The Halo wipes come in a handy travel size pack containing 10 wipes and is great for your handbag. I love that these are fragrance free as I'm not overly keen on using heavily scented items on my face. These wipes are a decent size and good quality and great for refreshing your face or removing make up after a long day.

Kueshi -Anticellulite Booster - Full Size £14.55
This Kueshi Anticellulite Booster claims to tone your skin and fight off dimples. Massage into your legs twice a day and have summer ready legs, great news if you plan on wearing shorts to all the Festivals or throughout the summer season. This cream is lightly scented. I haven't really got cellulite so I can't say for sure if it gets rid of it, but it did leave my skin feeling really soft.

Essence - Gel Nail Polish - Full Size £1.71
This Essence Gel Polish is a lot cheaper than I expected it to be! I received the colour prince charming which is an aqua green colour. I think this would have worked a lot better if I had the gel base and top coat to go with this and I would really like to try more colours and see if it makes a difference using all 3 coats. The polish took ages to dry and I kept chipping it so this isn't a product I would use if you're in a rush. This is available at my local Wilkinsons so I might pop in and see if I can pick some more colours up.

May 2015 Glossybox

I feel like my Glossybox was quite late again this month and I noticed a lot of people got theirs before me which is odd! I had to double check the payment had gone through in case, but it turns out my neighbour had it, and Royal Mail hadn't left a calling card. Thanks for that! I'm sorry for the delay in getting this post up.

MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand in Midnight Storm - Full Size £6.95
The first thing I clocked sight on was this MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Pencil. This is a double ended pencil in Midnight Storm. Being colour-blind it was hard to tell exactly what colour this was, but after some help from Google I have discovered one end is midnight blue, and the other end is more of a turquoise colour. The pencil is really soft and blendable and would work great across your eyelid and also as an eyeliner. I can't wait to wear this out.

Sass Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate - Full Size £12
This is a product I didn't even know existed. Firstly, I love the packaging of this, it's in a lovely discreet box so if you did want to take this on holiday you could hide it away. This product by Sass is to stop ingrown hairs when shaving more intimate areas and aims to minimise hair regrowth. The product doesn't really have a strong scent and smooths nicely into the skin.

Collection Cosmetics Lipstick in Pink Rose - Full Size £2.99
When I first saw this, I didn't even realise it was a Collection Cosmetics product. I'll be honest I'm not a huge fan of the packaging as I can see it getting dirty easily and it feels a bit clunky. The colour I received was Pink Rose which is a matte pink shade. With any matte lipstick you will need to prep and ensure your lips are exfoliated and hydrated before wearing this. To be honest this isn't really a colour I would wear, it's far too light and makes me look like a wannabe Barbie or even worse, like I have foundation lips!

Etre Belle Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel - Full Size £15.93
I love the texture of this moisturising gel, it's simply a gel (obviously!) which goes onto the skin really nicely. At first it leaves a slightly sticky residue but that soon disappears when you let it sink in a bit longer. Although this is Aloe Vera scented the smell is not too overpowering. My skin felt really soft after using this and I think it will be great to use to soothe my skin in the summer after being out in the sun.

Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam - Full Size £7.95
I was most excited to try this Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam when I received my box. The product had leaked ever so slightly and I'm not sure if that's due to the packaging or the way my box was handled but either way it still works. This product is going to be great for festival season and an essential to pack in your travel bag. The product is unlike any dry shampoo I have tried before, it's a foam which you massage into the roots of your hair then simply towel dry it off - no water required. I tried this out inbetween hair washes and thought it worked really well and I wasn't left with any residue. It smells fruity and really freshens up your hair leaving it looking healthy and shiny.

What did you think of this box? I was pretty impressed with the range of products and look forward to trying out some new brands.

April 2015 Glossybox

Another Glossybox down. I actually really love this months 'The Iconic Edit' box and the theme and I can really see how all of the products tie in together. Well done Glossybox! There were four designs to collect this month, I got the blue one but they're all lovely I think!

Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil in Kiss - Full Size £10
This was the first product I saw and is described as the 'perfect Marilyn red'. I've never owned a pencil style lipstick and I really like the concept, you can line your lips and fill them in all at once! This is such a lovely vibrant colour, I can imagine wearing this in the summer. I have been lightly dabbing this onto my lips and blending it out so its a bit lighter then adding gloss on top and I've been loving the colour. This is pretty long lasting too and doesn't dry out the lips as the pencil is creamy and soft.

Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser - Full Size £3.89
I opened this up and saw the bright white creamy formula. It smells like a nicer version of Sudocrem, but isn't as thick. Apparently this has been a firm favourite with Hollywood Stars since the 1950's. This can also be used to remove makeup. I have smeared this on my face and then wiped off with cotton pads and it does seem to get everything off  and I do love a multi-purpose cream. I'm not sure I would repurchase this but I definitely enjoyed using it for a change to my usual lotion.

Pop Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen - Full Size £6.50
This pencil is nice and great for creating the iconic cat eye look. One end has a smudger for a smokey eye look. This transfers on the waterline as a sooty grey colour but is buildable to create a darker look. The pencil is soft and glides on nicely without dragging the skin. I can't personally use pencils on my upper lash line as I always seem to make a mess but for a smokey eye this works really well.

Color Club Barely There Nail Polish - Full Size £4.10
I love nude nails, especially as I'm not really supposed to wear nail varnish in my job so a nude nail is virtually undetectable but still makes me feel like I've put the effort in. It's also a colour which compliments any skin tone. I put 2 coats of this on and a topcoat and the colour lasted quite well which was nice.

IDC Body Lotion - Full Size £3.59
This lavender body lotion is actually really nice and I am glad I received this one as I'm not the biggest fan of rose scented things. This absorbs into the skin quickly and leaves my skin soft and hydrated and the smell lingers for a few hours after. The scent really reminds me of summer and the smell of my skin afterwards reminds me of being on the beach! I don't know why! I think I would buy this again as it's pretty good value and a lovely product.
