I was recently invited to a baby shower and for those of you that know me well, you will know that I am the least maternal person ever. Unless it involves cats. I'll be a cat mumma all day long. Anyway, it dawned on me that I have never been to a baby shower before. What on earth kind of gift would I need to bring? Babies don't drink wine do they?
I scoured Pinterest and Youtube for ideas and came across many variations of these onesie/babygrow cupcakes and thought they would be the perfect gift.
These were so easy to do. I bought a cupcake box, some liners and some ribbons for the packaging. To make the 'cupcakes' you will need 4 babygrows (I used 3-6 months) and 4 baby socks. I actually bought a 4 pack of socks, and wrapped the odds up separately for the mum to keep aside.
To make these, simply roll the babygrow length-ways, and place the sock on top as seen in the photos below.
Then roll the baby grow into a spiral around the sock so you are left with something like this. I then rolled the top end of the sock over the rolled up babygrow to replicate a cupcake case. I tried to use contrasting sock colours so they stood out.
When you have rolled all four 'cupcakes', pop them into some clean cupcake liners and display in the cupcake box.
I then wrapped some ribbon around the box and popped into a gift bag. I think these are a really cute idea and shows you have put some effort into your gift. I have seen things like this for sale online in excess of £20! When you see how simple these are to make, and how cost effective they can be I am sure you will want to make your own for that personal touch.
I think baby girl clothes would also look so cute wrapped up like this. They're almost good enough to eat!
